This is my token. It was given to me by one of my trainers when I was 16; he was fond of me and believed me to be the most promising of his students. He spoke of how the bracelet represented my personality and the person I must become. He explained that the color black is authoritative and powerful but somber and grim, while the color blue conveys importance and confidence and can be strong and steadfast. He wished to instill in me the might of these colors and reinforce my confidence in my growing skills. The skulls, he said, are meant to represent the fatality of the games and their gold color is meant to remind me of the life of luxury that awaits the winner. As a promise, I’ve worn it everyday since I received it as a reminder that I must always be as ruthless as the games.

Here come the games.
